SelectSurveyASP and SelectSurvey.NET have all the features you would expect in a world-class survey application yet is only a fraction of the price. You just won't find a more feature-rich survey application at anywhere near the price of SelectSurveyASP or SelectSurvey.NET.

Can I pay for the software using a purchase order?

How will I receive my SelectSurveyASP or SelectSurvey.NET software?
Once your purchase has been confirmed you will immediately receive an email with a download link. You simply download the specified file, unzip it and FTP the files to your web server.

How do I know if SelectSurveyASP will run on my web server?
SelectSurveyASP runs on any Windows web server that supports Active Server Pages (ASP). To keep this as simple as possible, just ask your system administrator or ISP if you can run Active Server Pages on the web site. If the answer is yes, you can run our software.

How do I know if SelectSurvey.NET will run on my web server?
SelectSurveyASP runs on any Windows web server that has Microsoft .NET framework version 2.0 installed. To know for sure, just ask your system administrator or ISP if you have a Windows server with .NET version 2.0 installed.

I do not have a web server available. Can you recommend a good web hosting company?
For SelectSurveyASP, you can use any web hosting company that supports Windows-based Active Server Pages (ASP). For SelectSurvey.NET, the requirements are Windows hosting with Microsoft .NET framework version 2.0 installed. We use a great company called GoDaddy.com (http://www.godaddy.com). The cost is approx. $3 per month. They are one of the few companies we know of that always answer their phone for technical support. If you go with them, please mention that we referred you.

How do I install SelectSurveyASP and SelectSurvey.NET?
Installing both SelectSurveyASP and SelectSurvey.NET is extremely simple, and generally takes less than 10 minutes. All that is required is to download the appliation, unzip the files, copy or FTP them to your web server, and set a few configuration variables. Both versions of the application comes with a thorough installation document that explains each step in great detail.

Can I have a demo copy of the application to try on my own computer before I purchase?
You don't need one! Our online demos are fully functional and kept up to date, .NET online demo, which enables you to try out all of the features of SelectSurveyASP and SelectSurvey.NET. All demos.

I'm a web developer with ASP and/or .NET experience. Why should I purchase SelectSurveyASP or SelectSurvey.NET instead of writing my own survey software?
With several thousand hours of development time invested in creating SelectSurveyASP, and nearly twice that into SelectSurvey.NET, you can purchase our time at pennies per hour. Plus, you get a proven solution that has been used extensively by major corporations all over the world. The alternative would be to start from scratch or reverse engineer our software. But ask yourself how long it would take you to code an application like this. Then ask yourself how much your time is worth. We think you'll agree that it's worth more than a few pennies an hour.

Installation Questions

When I try to access the application, I get a "page cannot be displayed. HTTP 500 - Internal server error" message.
This is a very general error. If you receive this error when trying to run an ASP script then you need to turn off Friendly HTTP Error Massages in Internet Explorer so you can get details on what is causing the error. To do this, in Internet Explorer, go to Tools -> Internet Options -> Advanced, and in the Browsing section, uncheck, "Show friendly HTTP error messages." Then re-execute the page, and a meaningful error message should now be displayed. At least for the installation and debugging process, keep this option unchecked.

When I try to use the application, I get an "Unable to open registry key" message.
This error almost always means that the path to the database is set incorrectly. In the Include/Config_inc.asp file, make sure that the path to the database has been set correctly. To help you find the correct path to the database, there is a file in the root directory of your application called GetAbsolutePath.asp. Run this page from your web browser to get the absolute path to this file. You can then use this information to determine the absolute path to your database.

When I try to access the application, I get an "Operation must use an updateable query" message.
This error usually happens when you try to insert data into or update data in an Access database. It means that you don't have sufficient permissions to write to the database. If you are running the web server yourself then please refer to the section in the installation document on how to correctly set the permissions on the database. If you are not running the server yourself you will need to contact your web hosting provider and ask them how to set the permissions correctly. You may need to use a special folder or they may have to setup a system DSN for you or change the permissions on the directory containing the database.

Technical Questions

When I send emails using CDONTS, how come I never receive the emails?
The most likely cause of this problem is that the SMTP on the web server hosting the application is not configured correctly. Click here to view a great newsgroup posting that explains possible problems and solutions.

What databases can be used with the application?
SelectSurveyASP can be run using MS Access, SQL Server. SelectSurvey.NET runs against either Access or SQL. For Access, a fully loaded database is provided. For SQL Server, the software includes scripts for creating the database and populating with the required data.

Can I create surveys in SelectSurveyASP or SelectSurvey.NET in a foreign language?
Yes. SelectSurveyASP and SelectSurvey.NET contain built-in functionality to support most character sets. For character sets not supported by the application, you can customize the application with just a few lines of code to support the new character set.

Can I change the look and feel of my surveys?
Yes. The look and feel of each survey is extremely customizable. Each survey is associated with a template, and any template can be used and re-used on more than one survey. The templates contain over 50 look and feel attribute, thus controlling every single visual aspect of your survey, including all fonts, colors, sizes, border, alignment, logo, etc.

Can I change the look and feel of the entire application?
Yes. All look and feel related information for the entire application is stored in a single style sheet. By modifying this style sheet, you can modify the look and feel of the entire application.
